Plainsong Magnificat & Nunc Dimitis
This is a work in the tradition of Byrd’s canticles. It may be sung as choir with cantor or soloist with unison choir and soft organ harmonization. It is also possible to treat the entire work as unaccompanied plainsong.
It may be useful to note that the provided recording is not a reflection of the speed at which the chant should be sung, only a depiction of the notation. I would recommend a fairly typical chant speed, approximately two notes per second, but that it be fluid, as chant usually is. The speed is representative of the harmony sections but those work far more slowly, also, depending on the accoustics of your building.
